Criminology Museum of Meiji University at a glance
Located by Meiji University’s campus, the Criminology Museum takes visitors through the history of crime and punishment in Japan.
It was founded on the concept of ‘Rights and Liberty’, and has exhibitions with names such as ‘Japan’s Crime and Punishment’, ‘Culprits of the Edo Period’, ‘Torture and Tribunal’, and ‘Execution and Correction’. Museum exhibits include items such as guillotines and iron maiden.
The founding purpose of the Criminology Museum is for visitors to gain more appreciation for human dignity through the exposure of crime and punishment around the world.
